New Crosstitch Kit

Why do I always wait for many things in my life? Wait is always present in the life of Roxxy, a very long wait perhaps *sigh*. I feel like things in my life seems to progress so slow, or I am just in a hurry, maybe yes..phew! I've been here for England for almost a year now, my working permit was granted to me more than 6 months already. I applied quite a few jobs but either you don't have a reply, my experience isn't enough, or I don't drive (which is necessary if you apply as a community carer). Although luckily, I've found a job and had an offer and accepted, yet I still need to wait for my employment reference from the Philippines. It's a nuisance but I don't have any choice. Last week I did my weekly routine of complaining to my hunny (wink) that I feel bored and I feel like a lot of my time has been wasted already due to this waiting. I want to make use of my time in a fruitful and productive way. Though blogging keeps me busy, I still can't get something from it since i don't have my own domain name yet due to the fact that I still don't have a bank account. Each week I think of what can I do to spend my days productive, I thought of doing some arts and crafts like knitting (which I've done), and I'm very interested in jewellery making. But I as I checked the cost of beads, and the materials it so expensive, so i rolled it out. I'll just wait till I come back to the Philippines and I'll get my jewellery making materials out there since it is cheaper there for sure. And I've just finished doing a cross titch a month ago so I wanted something different.

But oh well I found another lovely crosstitch pattern (photo on top), a typical thatch English cottage with a lovely garden.A bit expensive but I fell in love with it and so as bunny. And guess what, we decided to buy it last night cos we thought it would be a nice diversion for me whilst I'm waiting for my employment. Hope it'll arrive soon so I could start sooner and I hope it is not too complicated to start with! =)

This is my entry for this week's Ruby Tuesday and My World Tuesday!

Poole Pottery from Grandma and Grandpa

Two weeks ago FIL's brother rang and said if we could go to Spindrift (grandma and grandpa's house) and see if we want anything from there. Since grandma and grandpa (FIL's parents) will now be in a care home, they decided to rent their house to help pay the care home. They will rent it unfurnished so Bryan (FIL's bro) told us if we want anything in the house like furniture, kitchen ware or anything that would be useful for us when we have our own house. We picked some furniture and a few things and these Poole Pottery are one of them.

I thought it would be nice to display them in the dining area or I could put it in a corner unit furniture grandma and grandpa gave us.I'm so delighted because it'll be a big help for us since most of the things here in England are so expensive and for us new couple we are happy to welcome hand me down things. Thank you so much grandpa and grandma, and to FIL's siblings as well for their generosity and of course my PIL for helping us pack and carry them and to grandpa Smith (MIL's father) for offering a space in your house to store the furniture! Thanks in advance PIL and Bryan for offering to help us getting the furniture from Spindrift to Grandpa's house in Canterbury. To grandma and grandpa, thank you so much, We/ I promise to take care of your things the way you took care of them =) !

Knitted Mobile Pouch

Photobucket

Due to the fact that stay I'm a stay at home wife at the moment, I find it hard to entertain myself sometimes. So to avoid boredom I thought of starting to learn knitting!Yep, I'm really interested in arts and crafts. I've finished my 1st masterpiece(nyaks!), our honeymoon token cross titch which I blogged here Honeymoon Token. Knitting interest me as well  so I asked my MIL if she could teach me cos she's really could at it and she made a few like bunny's Thomas jumper when he was baby  and she made Emilia (SIL's daughter) a jumper as well. And this wool I used is the remains on Emilia's jumper that MIL did. I like the colour, lovely isn't it? I really enjoyed doing it and hopefully with more practice I could make other stuff as well like hat, scarf, baby boots maybe or jumper to be more ambitious!wahaha..Thanks so much to my MIL who patiently taught me =) ..Anyways happy weekend! We're going temping bowling tomorrow, I'll blog here if I have time =) cheers!

Chatsworth House Sculpture Gallery

We're back to Chatsworth House today. We visited this state house during our honeymoon and I've blogged a lot about our visit there, the water features and maze, the magnificent wall and ceiling paintings and the paintings of duke and duchess of Devonshire for the past centuries, and what I like most is the Royal collections. And today I'm gonna share to you another valuable and historic work of art collections of the house; The Sculpture Gallery.

The sculpture collection in the house, garden and park spans over 4000 years. It was the 6th Duke William Spencer Cavendish who built the gallery and started the collections from the age of 28 until his death, aged 68.
This is the vistel virgin sculpture, it was featured from the film "Pride and Prejudice" by the actress Keira Knightley. What amazes me is that how they carved the veil that looks so real.
The Duke positioned busts of himself and Canova above copies of two lions (which you can slightly see at the nest photo) Canova had made for the tomb of Pope Clement XIII (1536-1605) at St. Peters in Rome.
The Duke visited Italy and met some of the best artists of his time. He became great friends with the famous sculptor Antonio Canova (1757-1822) and this gallery could be seen as a shrine to the artist.

To make the marble sculpture, Canova would have begun by drawing sketches, then making a small clay model to perfect the composition before creating a full size versions in plaster.
This chandelier though caught my attention cos of the very artistic look.

Honeymoon Token

Peak District I think is one of the nicest place here in England specifically Bakewell. I say it though I haven't travelled much here because its completely superb for me, the landscape, the traditional houses, the shops, the people, Chatsworth,, Monday market, everything! Oh I guess the very moment I stepped there I fell inlove right then on the place. So as that and as our honeymoon token, I decided to buy and make a crosstitch pattern of Derbyshire popular landmarks. I've started it, slowly moving though but hopefully I'll finished it soon!

The pattern, instructions, the coloured cottons I am using and the started master piece!

You see, I'm working on it, not that close but moving on slowly.hehe..Just have loads of things to redo but worth it in the end I know when I finally hang it in our wall framed! Yay!
How about you what is your art passion or have you had any honeymon token? Feel free to share it here and some tips for crosstitching as well please! Good day!
