It's my first blog post, so exciting yet so anxious of what topic shall I post. We'll I chose this blog name because I want to share to everyone my starting married life in a land that I barely know, never visted before, far from where I grew up and very different from the culture and climate I lived for 22 yrs. Here I am, in the land of king and queens, lords and lady, duke and duches, castles and cottages. In the country with 4 seasons and an excellent British accent. Whew! so overwhelming and scary.
I already felt the big change I had to face since the very moment the plane landed and I stepped out of Heathrow airport in London..that's the weather. Cold, that's the first impression of a filipina who lived 22 yrs in a 35-37 degrees country except in December and rainy season. Oh well, thanks goodness that my very nice mother inlaw brought me a warm jacket =).
It was hard for me at first to settle in. With different weather, people, food and language. But I am so eager and motivated enough to live with it. I had struggle with food at first to be honest. Well, I grew up with the rice as our staple food and have it 3 times a day as possible so was a bit hard for me not having it everyday. And I sometimes feel frustrated when I'm starving cos it's the food I usually have in the Philippines that I fancy eating rather than the food here. My mother in law is a good cook though, always make sure that what she served is healthy enough each and everyday.
With the people here, I never struggled to fit it because everyone was so nice and welcoming. People from church, neighbours an despecailly my husband's family. My inlaws are amazing, especailly my parents inlaw. I was so overwhelmed with the warmth welcome they gave me.
We are temporarily living with my husband's parents, was never a problem cos they are great, and with the wedding preparations we need them to help us as well. We planned the wedding right after I arrived here. It was a great time to bond with my maother inlaw too. We do things together most of the time since my father inlaw and James are working in weekdays and so it's just me and her being left here in the house. She helped me/us in most of our wedding preparations, from the invitations to the last bits of reception decoartions and flowers.
I'm slowly knowing and familiarising England, liking it and loving it through the people and places and food I encounter. More about it on my upcoming blogs here, so please take time to drop in and follow my blog..thanks
