Weekend To Do's

Hmmmm... I am posting my blog late today, oh well later than the usual time I do post.Just arrived from a neighbour's birthday party down the road actually, bit tired. Anyways here's what we've done today. First was

Cleaning and preparing our new bedroom. ]It's not really a new bedroom. We'll just going back to my old bedroom where I used to sleep when hunnybunny and I wasn't married yet. After our wedding mother inlaw offered us that guest room downstairs as our temporary bedroom until the time we get a mattress and double bed to be put inmy bedroom. And the other thing is my mother inlaw's sister and husband are coming on Monday to watch cricket the whole week and they used to stay in the room we stayed whis is really a guest room. So now we got a new matress and a double bed in my room. We still struggled for space when we put the bed, but we managed to fit everything before lunch and off to our next to do which was

Shopping! hehe.. Yeah, who would not love shopping. Every girls love it I guess. But what we did today wasn't really a shopping galore thing for our personal stuff. Just bought flipflops today and bunny was quite generous he bought me two.hehe.. Anyways what we shop were the stuff we had from our wedding list that wasn't bought. The shop where we set up our gift list gave us 10% discount on the stuff that wasn't bought on our wedding list if we purchased it to them. And we also had £50 gift card cos we exceeded to £250 a total to all the gifts our guests bought and some of our guests put money on our gift card as well so we got quite a lot of money on the card. The offer only last 12 weeks and they're on sale as well so grabbed it cos we might be busy for the next weekends. Now hunnybunny's room is filled with our wedding gifts and stuff that we bought, that's our next mission clean and arrange his room! Might as well convince him to get a new coat, he doesn't like buying for himself, just always me! I love you hunny!

It's All about Life!

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that we never feel the heat until we get burned. Often times we forget to appreciate life. Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in. Forget them as soon as you can. The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

We are Opposite but We Collided!

I would like to introduce to everyone my oh so understanding, loving, caring and of course handsome hunnybunny!haha..This is an interesting topic, a couple's talent. I could tell you a lot of my hunnybunny's talent but let me think of mine..hmm..Well, as far as I can remember, I won from a drawing contest when I was 5yrs.old. I used to draw by then and I did quite well. Haven't drawn for long now so it lost a bit of my interest engaging in that thing. And I guess one thing I can say my talent is that I can write peoms just sometime when I'm in the mood. My bunny admires my caring side cos I always tell him I love caring for old people. I'm a practical nurse more than in the hospital I like working in a care home. I have a big heart for the older people, I just don't know why. And my hunnybunny. oh well he's quite amazing, he got all the qualities I haven't or considered to be my weakness. First is that he's very good in Mathematics which is I'm no good at all. Mind you he doesn't use calculator in solving number stuff. I remember last time when we had dinner with his work colleagues and by the time we need to pay the bill they just ask my hunny how much each of us will pay and he just think and gave us how much each will pay and one of his colleague said " see he's a walking calculator".hehehe..so proud of my bunny. Hopefully our kids will get that talent. And another he is good at remembering things, appointment, how much things cost, what to do. Oh well good for me cos I'm a scattered brain most of the time.hehe..He's good in packing suit case as well, fitting number of stuff.hehe..See my hunnybunny is my one great opposite but we collided!hehe..

C is for Chatsworth House and Cascade

C for Chatsworth House. A 737 hecatres which is a family house of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, a working community as well and a living landscape.Well, this place had been used as one of the setting in a popular English movie. Anyone know? One of Jane Austen collection? One of my favourite movie, "Pride and Prejudice". Have you watched it? A 1995 television drama serial, adapted in six episodes by Andrew Davies from Jane Austen's novel of the same name, originally published in 1813. They made it into movie as well starring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as the handsome Mr. Darcy. I like the Mr. Darcy in the original one, Colin Firth.hehe.. if you know them. Anyway, this place is so breath taking, it's a place that you'll probably finish your camera memory card no matter how many gigabyte it is cos everywhere you look is so picturesque. Haay...a very romantic place as well. Mind you, a day won't be enough to tour Chatsworth. We spent almost a day there but haven't explored much. We just toured the inside of the house  and the bits of garden and maze. That was so romantic, we ate our lunch under the tree to shelter us from the rain. And after that we explored the garden, the rain never stopped us. But half way through the garden, my feet hurts cos I was wearing a boots 2 inches high and the garden was so massive. A long walk required so my hunny carried me on his back while walking under the rain. Haay so sweet wasn't it? A perfect honeymoon indeed!

This is the top part of the cascade where water starts and if you look closer on right side,  the water comes out from the mouth of the fish. And by the way I'm the pink lady u see standing.hehe

What a lovely view! This is the C for  Cascade. A huge man- made water feature. There's a pipe at the bottom of this cascade which feeds other fountains and carries water to flush lavatories in the house and stables. I'll share to you more photos of inside and outside Chatsworth house on my next posts. If you happen to visit England specifically Derbyshire, best to visit Chatsworth House.

Dengue Emergency Call

I had a chat with my sister just minute ago and received another bad news about the dengue invasion in our town back in the Philippines. It's been spreading horrendously in our barangay. Last week a relative of ours lost her 7 year old daughter due to dengue and a highschool student from the catholic school were I studied died also. And today my sister said one of our neighbour lost their son due to the same cause. Oh dear that made me so nervous now. Because that means my nieces and nephew isn't safe as well and I guess my entire family cos anyone can be affected. I can't remember this Dengue fever had been this deadly and worse when I was there. well maybe because population there had been increasing. I'm really worried now and told my sister that if they could bring the kids somewhere, maybe in Bacolod to my brother's house. Oh Lord please keep them safe and all the people as well. Now it isn't a thing to ignore, our  town is in Dengue Emergency Call.

What  is  DENGUE FEVER?

Dengue fever is a disease caused by a family of viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes. It is an acute illness of sudden onset that usually follows a benign course with symptoms such as headache, fever, exhaustion, severe muscle and joint pain, swollen glands (lymphadenopathy), and rash. The presence (the "dengue triad") of fever, rash, and headache (and other pains) is particularly characteristic of dengue. Other signs of dengue fever include bleeding gums, severe pain behind the eyes, and red palms and soles.

How to Prevent Dengue?
  1. Step 1: Implement community vector control programs. This is essential because the only means of preventing dengue is to avoid being bitten by an infected mosquito.
  1. Step 2: Eliminate potential breeding grounds for the vector mosquitoes. This includes even small amounts of stagnant water, especially those around human habitation. Pots and old tires should be kept empty and even water in flower vases should be changed regularly.
  2. Step 3: Stay out of areas where dengue is endemic. This is not a very practical means of prevention because this would include most sub-temperate areas of the world. Apply mosquito repellents containing N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide (DEET) to the skin when outside in these areas. Spray an insecticide containing permethrin to protective clothing.
  3. Step 4: Remain indoors as much as possible in rooms with air conditioning or effective screening. Use indoor insect repellents. Mosquito netting at night is not a deterrent because Aedes mosquitoes bite during the day.
  4. Step 5: Monitor the progress on dengue vaccines. A safe vaccine has been developed and is undergoing clinical trials. An effective vaccine will need to provide immunity to all four serologic types of the dengue virus.

Our Dumaguete Adventure!

Blue Monday again, my second entry now. Was thinking of what to post when I saw this old picture of ours in my facebook. Suitable for Blue Monday isn't it? The blue pool water, my blue floral two-piece, my hunny's blu swimming short and the bottom picture is our blue printed Dumaguete souvenir tops. Yes, this was during our Dumaguete, Negros Oriental adventure. A 5-6 hours bus travel from Binalbagan, Negros Occidental (where I lived). Very tiring though but all worth it.We went to Bahura Resort which is 20-30 minutes travel by car from Dumaguete City. The resort entrance I think cost 500php/person but it includes a lunch and a snack in the afternoon. Pretty reasonable price plus the place very nice, picturesque place, and the pool is massive from 4ft to 13ft deep. A lovely, clear sea water where you can go diving and snorkeling and island boat tour.

Bits of Derbyshire , Peak District

I don't know what's the name of this castle, my hunny told me but I forgot.hehe..Anyways I took this photo from a far, just use the 2x optical xoom of our camera. Never thought it would came out this good. There's a lot of lovely place here in England, breath taking! And now I'm showing you a bit of Derbyshire. More photos of it on my upcoming blogs..

And this is another lovely photo of Derbyshire landscape with the moving cable cars.I guess I took whilst I'm up on the 100 feet Tower on our honeymoon second day tour at Heights of Abraham. It is a good place to visit when you happen to be in Peak District, Derbyshire.

A Thought of "Adobo Geese"

I was on my mood swing again apparently when we got passed in what they call " Lovers Walk" in Matlock Bath (a town before Bakewell, Derbyshire where we spent our honeymoon) when my hunny said if we could have a walk there too. I said no and sat down beside the street while he's texting my mother inlaw about something. And just as I saw he's a bit busy texting, I quickly got in the park and sat in the bench beside a tree which you can't really be seen from the entrance of the park. Was thinking of letting my hunny find me.hehe...And so whilst I was sitting, I saw these fat geese all walked near me looking for food. I took a photo of them and smiled with the  thought that, you can't see a wild animal like this roaming in a park in my country. Whilst they're all be make "adobo geese".haha..It is a popular Filipino dish "adobo". You can either cook it with pork or chicken or both. Miss it lots. Was thinking of "adobo geese" honestly when I saw these fat geese. Will it be as yummy as a "duck adobo?". (wink!)

The Moody Sky and the Moody Me

This the Bakewell Cathedral in Derbyshire. We went here 2 weeks ago for our honeymoon. We just chose the church lane going to a museum which is at the back of the cathedral. And so I thought it was the best time to get photo as well. So my hunny took this while I'm going up the hilly church lane. And I think I wasn't on a good mood on this day, same as the sky, cloudy. Not so good for a first day of tour.

And now this! Look at the sky, so blue and bright. Same as me in the picture, smiling again and hugging my hunny after being so quiet and moody the whole morning. The sky indeed followed my mood!hehehe..

Our Last Night Dinner in Bakewell

Hmmm..Friday is yummy! Food.food, food, food.Always an interesting and inspiring topic.Saw a lot of filipino food in this blog Food Trip Friday and it made me miss it more. Anyways most of the food I'll share here will be obviously English Food.

This is a bowl of nachos we ordered as our appetizer and my bunny is holding the sauce while I took the photo. It is a huge portion and we have one bowl each and as always I didn't finished mine. I ust asked the waitress if we could take it away cos I fancied eating it while watching tele. She said yes and took the nachos but never came back nor reminded us until we left!

This..this was the main course my hunnybunny ordered. It is a typical English food as you can see it has peas, lettuce, big mushrooms (which is not really visible here in the photos), plum tomatoes, onions, onion rings and chips. It is a huge portion and by the way it goes with a sizzling steak just not included when I took the photo. My bunny didn't finished eating it all because it is really a huge plate and a lot on it.We both had the steak so that's just the only one we finished.

And this, this was my order. Stir fry with rice. Oh dear I was very disappointed with this. I was expecting the stir fry that my mother inlaw is always cooking. You know, something with broccoli on it, chicken, courgettes, a good portion and variety of veggies as I say. But with this I ended up with just a little mushroom, courgettes and the 3 clours of peppers (green, red and orange). It was a shame and decreased my appetite really. And expectedly, I didn't finished it.

LP 115: Tawid (Cross)

Hmmm..first entry to Litratong Pinoy (Filipino Photos) and it seems so interesting. Is a bit agitated how to word it though whether I'll use Tagalog or English.hehe..Well to be honest really it's more easier to word it in English rather than Tagalog, and I don't know it's just a bit awkward and makes you think more. But try ko mag gamit taglish as we call it. So today's topic is Tawid (Cross) siguro this picture  ay bagay dito. Kuha to during our honeymoon.

Nakuha ko tong photo na to while I'm in the car as we got passed by one of the Town called Matlock Bath papunta sa next town called Bakewell where we stayed the whole week of our honeymoon. Was trying to get picture of the busy people going around the shops and cars passing by and didn't noticed this two old women crossng the street.

Ito yung tinatawag nilang cable cars, don't know if meron tayo nito sa Philippines but anyway it is in Alton Towers here in England. It was my second experience na sumakay dito cos we previously had it nong pumunta kami sa isang tourist attraction  Heights of Abraham the second day of our honeymoon. Ganda sumakay dito dahil kitang kita mo lahat ng magagandang landscape view sa area. This is use too para tumawid or to cross the other part or area of Alton Towers kasi sobrang laki and you'll be so tired if lalakarin mu lang.

The Royal Collections

I've been here in England for almost 4 months already and have known a few of English traditions and likes. I learned most of it in television programs and so as on our honeymoon adventure. Most of the British people  loves collectibles especially antique ones. They have lots of TV programs about antique buying and auctioning. Just like Cash in the Attic, Bargain Hunt and Antique Road Trip in the popular British Broadcasting Company which I tend to follow now too.And here are some Royal Collectibles from our castle tour (of what castle?I'll reveal it on my next post..hehe) during our honeymoon adventure. Now this post joins Ruby Tuesday.

This is the painting gallery

This is the brooches collections of Deborah Mitford, the wife of the 11th Duke of Devonshire

Tiara's and hair comb collections which belongs to one of the Duchess before I think.
