Whew! it's almost 2 months now since I started working as a care assistant at Kingsfield Care Home in Faversham. One of the 700 plus care homes owned by Southern Cross Healthcare all over the UK. It is a new purpose built home that provides 24 hours care at a high quality standard. We offer Residential, Nursing care and even special care for those with Dementia. We also provide Respite care, End of life care and care for those individuals with Learning and Physical disabilities including those under 65 years.
Working as a carer is hard, 12 hours a day shift isn't easy. It makes you mad sometimes (hehe) especially when the service users uses their call bells most of the time. It's quite tiring but at the end of the day, when I recall the care I've done to our elderly service users, it's all worth it. Very rewarding, and enjoy sometime cos I get to speak my own language with my Filipino work colleagues. We eat lunch together, share our food, stories, and laughter. Such a typical thing as a filipino, and that's what I missed most..
